From photographs of spinal injuries patients at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in the 1940s, to modern prosthetic racing blades, our archives and collections will reveal to you the fascinating stories of our National Paralympic Heritage.
The National Paralympic Heritage Trust has service agreements with Buckinghamshire Archives and Bucks County Museum Trust to catalogue and care for our collections using nationally recognised standards. This important work is supported by the Wellcome Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund as a project called ‘Spinal to Sport’. Below is a gallery of some of the photographs currently catalogued.

We are interested in collecting memories from individuals who have stories to share from the humble beginnings at Stoke Mandeville through to the present day. It may be that you were involved yourself as an athlete, volunteer, games maker, spectator or it may be that you have a family member who was involved. Whatever your involvement, help us bring to life our collections and preserve this heritage for future generations by sharing your story, our friendly volunteers are waiting to record your story!
If you would like to share your story please contact [email protected]
We are very keen to continue to grow our collection and welcome donations from memorabilia through to medals relating to the Paralympic Movement. Whatever you have in your stores we would love to see and share it.
