Chairman's Welcome

  • Chairman declared the meeting quorate and welcomed all attendees.
  • No conflicts of interest declared.
  • The Minutes from the last meeting were approved with no amendments.
  • The CEO confirmed that the Matters Arising from the previous meeting were either completed or progressing.

Financial Update

  • The Trustees were given an update from the recent Finance and Development Committee Meeting. 
  • The Trust has raised almost £800,000 33% of the funding required for the new 5-year strategy and had a good strategy in place for fundraising.
  • It was confirmed to all Trustees that both grants and commercial fundraising have achieved - 70% of their target for the year within the first 6 months and further applications were in the pipeline.  
  • The first Corporate Away day with the BPA was very good with excellent constructive feedback.  
  • The Trustees were advised that the NPHT are nominated for a digital innovation award along with 2 other companies.  The Bucks Business First Awards are later this evening, a good networking opportunity.  
  • A couple of companies have been in contact and would like to discuss the possibility of sponsoring the Virtual Gallery.  

Team Updates

  • Seamlessly Inclusive 2023-28 Strategy update from across the team was read by the Trustees in advance of the meeting. The CEO highlighted the first ACE/Rothschild project visit to a special education school, age range, 16-19 years old, that went well but shockingly not one of the children had been to any museum and that the celebration event for HS2 had been successfully delivered, an enormous and successful piece of work. The recruitment process for the Trainees went well, it challenged our recruitment process leading to positive changes to be more inclusive.
  • The CEO gave an update on a meeting with Loughborough University in relation to the academic study around measuring the impact of digital engagement. The app trail had been soft launched and was gathering accessibility feedback. 
  • The Trustees were reassured of the security of our collections, following the stealing of objects from the British Museum. The majority are held at County Museums or Archives who have good security.  
  • Collections Operations Officer PowerPoint slide presented by Amy Coleman, with work going well. 
  • The CEO explained the international virtual gallery plan and process.  Each gallery has space for about 10 items and stories.

Governance Issues

  • The CEO reported on Risk Assessment – a couple of changes lowering the risk of financial monitoring,  and risk around confidence in growing supporters regarding audience development.
  • 1 policy review; Environmental policy and plan.  The CEO presented a revised statement with annual targets linked to ACE NPO Investment Principles.  Approved by all.
    Inclusion and Access Manifesto Bucks Culture; presented by the CEO who explained NPHT’s lead on this. Signing up for this manifesto was approved by all Trustees.
