A celebration of all things creative and cultural in our local community

As part of this year's Buckinghamshire Open Weekend celebrations, in collaboration with I Have A Voice Too! (Aylesbury adult special needs theatre group), hosted a singing workshop for students at Booker Park School (primary special school in Aylesbury). The song they learnt was written to commemorate the Queen's Jubilee as part of our Sing a Song project

On Friday 29th July I Have A Voice Too! performed the song at Stadium Approach, Stoke Mandeville, the tree lined green space where the first Stoke Mandeville Games took place in 1948. Their audience included the GB Handball Team, Stoke Mandeville Holiday Club, Activ8, residents and staff from Bartletts Residential Home and families who live close by. Watch a clip of the performance below.

About Buckinghamshire Open Weekend 2022

From Thursday 28th until Sunday 31st July

This year’s theme of ‘trees and green’ is inspired by the Platinum Jubilee 2022 ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ project. It encourages people to engage creatively with nature, trees, green spaces, landscape, and their heritage. Activities are inspired by, or take place near, local trees, in woodland, parkland and other green spaces. Combining cultural activities with being outside also gives this year’s Open Weekend activities the potential for particular benefit for residents’ health and wellbeing. Organised by Buckinghamshire Culture with the support of Buckinghamshire Council and Visit Buckinghamshire, it will be a celebration of all things creative and cultural that Buckinghamshire has to offer.
