The history of the Paralympics is of global significance, capable of changing lives and attitudes. It’s a story of pioneers and communities, in which every nation that participates in the Games has significance. Sharing these stories globally, can inspire new generations of athletes and fans across the world.

Our Global Museum features NPHT collections of international importance, unique to the world, capturing the history of the Paralympic Games from their development, as part of the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 1944 through to and including the formation of the International Paralympic Committee in 1989.

We hope to encourage local museums to collect these stories in partnership with their local communities, whilst exploring their wider disability-related collections, to broaden understanding and break down negative perceptions of disability.

Join us for an exclusive first tour via Zoom, and learn about our development journey, diversifying our team and partners, and the exciting plans for the future.
