Meeting held over Zoom.

Chairmans welcome 

  • Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the board meeting was held via Zoom
  • The Board raised several small amendments for the previous meeting. Minutes were approved subject to these changes.
  • The CEO confirmed that the Matters Arising from the previous meeting were mostly complete.

Financial update

  • The Board was given an update from the recent Finance & Development Committee meeting.
  • The Trust remains in a good financial position.
  • The Board approved the appointment of the company Goodman Jones to independently review the Trust’s finances.

CEO and OEM update

  • The OEM report included how the Trust is preparing to reopen in a Covid-safe way, including reopening the office in a reduced capacity, opening the museum for bubble bookings, and getting volunteers back in.
  • WheelPower generously waived the Trust’s office rent during the closure, which the Chairman thanked them for.
  • The CEO announced that the business plan is completed, and the application for Accreditation has been submitted.
  • Meet the Paralympian is continuing to be a success, including a recent schools event with 600 children attending.
  • Bucks Archive are bringing in an archivist to work on the collection.
  • Unfortunately, the latest bid to the Wellcome Trust was unsuccessful.
  • The CEO presented a NLHF review of output and targets.
  • The CEO presented a draft Audience Development Plan, which was approved with some amendments.
  • The CEO presented the Archives and Collections Reports, which showed good progress.

Governance issues

  • The CEO reported that there were no changes to the Risk Assessment from the last meeting.
  • 4 policies were discussed and 2 approved. The Data Protection Policy and Data Information Statement will need further review to include current GDPR legislation.

AOB

  • The CEO informed the Board that a large photograph had been kindly donated. A location to display it is being sought.
  • The Armillary Sphere is due to be melted down as no backers have come forward to save it. The CEO will contact the artist to see if he will lead the fundraising campaign, or save part of the sphere.
  • The CEO reported that the Health and Safety Policy has been reviewed and will be shared to the Board.
  • Plans are underway for the Flame Lighting on the 19th August.
