My Dad, Mick Bans, was in the RAF dating a nurse who worked at Stoke Mandeville, she got him involved as a referee at the Stoke Mandeville Games in 1956 and 1957. He also met Dr Guttmann and helped develop the refereeing for wheelchair basketball. Dad still loves basketball today at the grand old age of 86 and had many stories to tell.
