What does success look like? On Friday 6th December, we were joined by wheelchair racer Nathan Maguire, fresh from Paris 2024, as the latest speaker in our 'Meet the Paralympian' event series.

Nathan Maguire is pictured, mid-race, and wearing his ParalympicsGB racewear. This includes a black lyrca-look long-sleeved top, a helmet with two red stripes down the middle, and metallic goggles which reflect the track. Nathan has his head slightly raised and is chasing down the athlete in front of him. His body is parallel to his wheelchair chassis. A competitor is close behind him. Nathan Maguire is pictured on the podium with his bronze medal at the Kobe 2024 Para Athletics World Championships. He wears a white top and navy tracksuit bottoms and hols his medal in his right hand. He is pictured in his wheelchair, alongside the athletes who finished in 1st and 2nd position. In front of them there are four flower boxes filled with colourful flowers, and the numbers 1 to 3 indicating their medal positions. Behind them is a white board showing lots of sponsors.

Nathan reached the finals in the 400m, 800m and 1500m T54 events at the Paris games - finishing just outside of the top three. So, is it all about the medals?

Nathan's story is a testament to resilience and hard work, inspiring us to reflect on our own definitions of success, and giving you a morning to remember.

This event took place on Friday 6th December from 11am until 11.45am. The event is suitable for young people in Key Stage 1 and 2, and can be a great way to engage your students in sport, biology, psychology and so much more.

It concludes with a Q&A, giving children the chance to ask their most pressing questions. Best of all, it's completely free and will be held online, allowing you to access the event from anywhere.

We are also joined by a BSL interpreter for this event.
