As part of our popular 'Meet the Paralympian' series, on the 5th December there was a free online talk for schools and home educated students by guest speaker Krysten Coombs.

Krysten Coombs is a two-time Paralympic medallist and former world doubles champion, so he knows a thing or two about success. He’ll be sharing his inspiring journey, from an active childhood filled with countless sports to discovering his passion for badminton and becoming a full-time professional athlete.

Krysten Coombs launches through the air to hit the shuttlecock at the Paris Paralympics in 2024.

Krysten made history at the Tokyo 2020 Games, clinching bronze in the very first outing of badminton at a Paralympic Games. The three-time European champion added a silver and bronze to his growing European medal collection in 2023 and at the Paris 2024 Paralympics faced his close friend and competitor in the final.

He says, ‘Badminton has made me the person I am today and given me so many opportunities’. Making firm friends along the way, he’ll share with us what it takes to succeed at the thing you love and face your fiercest pals on the court!

Krysten is a passionate advocate for disability sport, a qualified coach and sports manager, and a professional actor with roles in global hits like Game of Thrones and The Witcher.
