Corporal Shona Brownlee MBE PLY joined the RAF as a musician in 2012. A seemingly innocuous ankle injury sustained during basic training developed complications and eventually led to a below-knee amputation in 2018. Having never skied prior to injury, Shona was introduced to adaptive skiing as part of her rehabilitation programme, a journey which led to representing ParalympicsGB at the Winter Paralympics in Beijing 2022.
