Working with schools and community groups along the HS2 phase 1 route we will uncover and record stories at risk of being lost, share and promote them locally and nationally while building skills across Buckinghamshire. This community will be invited to consider the impact of creative design on the Paralympic Games. From the symbolism seen in the Paralympic torches to the costume designs seen in the opening ceremonies and the athlete kit.
A focus for this group of partners will be the athlete’s diet and the impact this has had on the growing professionalism of para-sport over the years. Comparing menus from the very early days with a modern day athlete’s approach to nutrition.
Graphic Design students at the secondary school will be working with an artist to inform their understanding of creating conscious and appropriate representations of disability using the Tokyo 1964 Games for inspiration and reflection.
