Meet the Paralympian event with Mike Brace CBE DL

Mike Brace, Paralympic skier

We were delighted to invite Paralympic skier, Mike Brace CBE DL to our virtual event in March. Mike was blinded in a firework accident at the age of 10 and his adjustment to life without sight has been guided by his love of sport, a passion which led him to compete in six Winter Paralympic Games and to undertake a host of appointments including Chef de Mission at the Nagano 1998 Winter Games and Head of Delegation at a further five Paralympic Games.  Mike went on to lead the Paralympic part of the successful Olympic and Paralympic bid for the London 2012 Games and became Chairman of the British Paralympic Association from 2001 to 2008. He has also successfully managed international sports teams in athletics, skiing and cricket.

Drawing on a lifetime of sporting achievements and career success, Mike challenges perceptions regarding what can be achieved when faced with a life changing experience and nurture a growth mindset in his audience whatever their personal journey.

You can listen to Mike's recent interview about his memories of the first Winter Paralympic Games for Sporting Witness on the BBC World Service here and find out more about Mike on his profile page on our website here.
