On 11th May, 2016 the exciting new organisation, the National Paralympic Heritage Trust, was launched at  the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.

These two photographs were taken at the event.

The group photo shows six of the nine Trustees standing behind with Stuart McCleod, Head of Heritage Lottery Fund, South East England, and  three Paralympians, Caz Walton, Margaret Maughan and Tim Reddish all of whom spoke at the event, sharing some of their stories of the earlier Paralympic Games.  There was an exhibition of objects from the archive which included an original Stoke Mandeville Games Paralympic blazer and cap. The same blazer and cap were re-used each year the Games were held!

  • I was at the launch of the National Paralympic Heritage Trust and found the experiences of the Paralympians – Margaret Maughan, Caz Walton and Tim Reddish – very interesting. Their personal stories really brought the Paralympic history alive for me.
